Velvet Chains

Bölüm 11

Fading

The silence was not empty; it was heavy, a suffocating velvet that pressed against Ivy’s lungs like the weight of a thousand drowned secrets. When the floor had given way, time had splintered. She had fallen through darkness that tasted of iron and ancient, rotted cedar, landing hard on a surface that felt less like stone and more like a pulsing, rhythmic muscle.

Ivy pushed herself up, her breath hitching. She was deep in the bowels of Blackwood Manor—or perhaps, she realized with a shudder, she was inside its throat. The architecture here defied geometry. Walls twisted into impossible spirals, and the dim, bioluminescent moss clinging to the ceiling flickered in time with her own heartbeat.

"Sebastian?" Her voice was a pathetic, ragged thing, swallowed instantly by the shadows.

She reached out, her fingers brushing the wall. The moment her skin made contact, a violent jolt of electricity surged up her arm. She didn’t recoil. She couldn’t. The manor wasn’t just a structure anymore; it was an extension of her own nervous system. She felt the house’s hunger—a cold, ravenous craving that mirrored the dark desire she had fought so hard to suppress for the man who had brought her here. The power she had tapped into to save him was still singing in her veins, intoxicating and lethal. It whispered promises of absolute control, of bending the very bricks and mortar to her will, if only she would surrender the last of her empathy.

*Feed me,* the manor hummed in her mind. *And I will give you everything.*

She stumbled forward, her boots clicking rhythmically on the floor. Every step felt like a betrayal of her humanity. She saw him then, a flicker of movement in the shifting labyrinth ahead. Sebastian.

He was frantic, his coat torn, his dark hair disheveled—a rare sight for a man who prided himself on impeccable precision. He was slamming his shoulder against a wall that had materialized out of thin air, trying to carve a path back to her.

"Sebastian!"

He spun around, his eyes—usually cold, analytical voids—widening with a raw, primal relief that left her breathless. He crossed the distance between them in three long strides, his hands seizing her shoulders with a desperation that bordered on violence.

"Ivy," he rasped, his thumbs digging into her skin, anchoring her. "I thought… the collapse… I heard you hit the floor."

"I’m here," she whispered, leaning into him. The heat radiating from his body was the only anchor she had left to reality.

He pulled her flush against him, his lips burying into the crook of her neck. He wasn't just checking for injuries; he was claiming her, marking his territory in a place that wanted to devour them both. The scent of him—sandalwood, blood, and old parchment—crashed over her, drowning out the manor’s psychic static.

"You did something," he muttered against her skin, his voice low and jagged. "I felt the house shiver. I felt *you* shivering through the foundation. What have you done, Ivy?"

She looked up at him, her eyes searching his. She could see the conflict in his face: the cold, calculating aristocrat who wanted to harness the manor’s power, and the man who was terrified that the woman he was beginning to crave would lose herself to it.

"I did what I had to," she said, her voice dropping to a low, melodic tremor. "I kept you alive."

"At what cost?"

He kissed her then—not with the practiced grace of a nobleman, but with a starving, frantic edge. His hands slipped down to her waist, pulling her tight against the hard line of his body. It was a kiss of shared desperation, flavored with the metallic tang of the manor’s dark influence. Ivy felt the house respond to their union; the floor beneath them vibrated, the shadows lengthening and coiling around their ankles like hungry serpents.

She felt a thrill of illicit power. She could kill him right now, she realized. She could make the manor crush him between its walls, or she could drag him into the abyss with her. The thought sent a jolt of arousal through her that was as intense as it was terrifying. She pushed him back slightly, her eyes glowing with a faint, sickly luminescence.

"It’s not just us anymore, Sebastian," she whispered, her hands tracing the sharp line of his jaw. "The manor… it knows who I am. It knows I am the key."

Sebastian’s expression darkened, his jaw tightening. He took her hand, his grip bruising. "We are leaving. Now. I don’t care if I have to burn this house to the ground, stone by cursed stone."

"You can’t," she laughed, a sound devoid of mirth. "You don't own it. It owns us. Can’t you feel it? It’s inside your head now, too."

He froze. His gaze flickered, shifting from her eyes to the darkness behind her. The corridor began to shift, the walls groaning as they constricted, forcing them into a smaller, tighter space. The ceiling lowered, trapping them in a narrow, suffocating tunnel of stone.

Sebastian pulled his blade, the silver edge catching a sliver of ambient light, but as he slashed at the wall, the wound bled black, viscous sap that hissed like acid.

"It’s changing," he growled, shielding her with his own body as debris rained down. "It’s not letting us go, Ivy. It’s isolating us."

"It wants me to be its heart," she said, the realization settling over her like a shroud. She felt the manor’s pull, a tugging sensation behind her navel, demanding she integrate, demanding she cease to be Ivy Blackwood and become the Blackwood Manor itself.

She turned to look at him, her vision blurring at the edges, the world beginning to dissolve into waves of grey and shadow. Sebastian reached for her, his face a mask of frantic urgency, but his hand passed through her as if she were made of smoke.

"Ivy!" he screamed, his voice echoing from a great distance.

She looked down at her hands. They were translucent, shimmering with the same sickly light that pulsed through the walls. She was slipping, her essence bleeding out into the architecture, her consciousness fragmenting into a thousand different rooms. She felt the cold stone against her back, and then, she felt the cold stone *becoming* her back.

"Sebastian," she cried, but the sound didn't come from her lips. It vibrated through the floorboards.

He lunged for her, but the wall between them surged upward, solidifying into an impenetrable barrier of obsidian.

The last thing she saw before her mind shattered into the dark was Sebastian’s face, contorted in a scream of pure, unadulterated agony, as the manor pulled her into its black, hungry heart.
