The Truth Comes Out
A few days later, Emma asked Lily to meet her after school. They sat together under a large tree in the schoolyard. Emma looked down at the ground and finally spoke.
“I need to tell you something,” she whispered. “When I found your notebook, I almost hid it because I was jealous.”
For a moment, Lily said nothing. Emma expected anger or disappointment. Instead, Lily quietly replied, “Thank you for telling me the truth. Everyone makes mistakes, but it takes courage to admit them.”
Tears filled Emma's eyes. She apologized sincerely, and Lily forgave her. Their friendship became stronger because it was now built on honesty instead of secrets.
Emma finally understood that telling the truth can be difficult, but it is the first step toward becoming a better person.
