Broken Trust
The day of the science competition finally arrived. Lily confidently presented her project, while Emma watched from the audience. She wanted to be happy for her friend, but a small voice inside her still whispered that Lily was always better.
After the competition, Lily thanked Emma for returning her notebook. She smiled and said, “I don't know what I would have done without you.”
Emma froze. She hadn't expected Lily to know. Guilt filled her heart because, for a moment, she had truly wanted to hide the notebook. Lily trusted her completely, but Emma felt she didn't deserve that trust.
That evening, Emma couldn't sleep. She realized that trust was more valuable than winning. She promised herself that she would never let jealousy control her actions again.
