The bell sounds echoed through every corner of the mansion.
BOOOOM!
BOOOOM!
BOOOOM!
The cracks in the walls grew bigger, pieces of stone fell from the ceilings.
Umi looked at Aras on one side, and at her dark future self on the other.
"Which of you is telling the truth?" she shouted.
Dark Umi didn't answer.
She just smiled sadly.
Aras clenched his fists.
"If you want to learn the truth, come with me."
Right then one of the walls at the end of the corridor collapsed with a loud crash.
A hidden room that had never been seen before appeared behind it.
There was a stone pedestal in the middle of the room.
An old, leather-bound book sat on the pedestal.
The same symbol was on the book's cover:
The Key.
Umi walked toward the book involuntarily.
The moment she touched the book, the inside of the room filled with bright white light.
And images began to appear.
Year 1897.
The mansion was newly built.
The gardens were alive.
People were laughing, music was playing.
But the old man who owned the mansion didn't look happy.
His name was Selim.
For years Selim had searched for a way to bring his daughter back.
Finally he had found forbidden knowledge about time.
He opened a passage under the mansion.
But what he opened wasn't time.
It was a dark entity that fed on dreams and fears.
That day the first Keeper was born.
And the mansion changed forever.
The image disappeared.
Umi was left breathless.
"So the reason for all of this is..."
"Selim," Aras said.
"The First Keeper."
Right then the book opened by itself.
The pages started flipping rapidly.
Finally it stopped on one page.
There a single sentence was written in large letters:
LAST KEEPER: UMI
Umi felt like her heart would stop.
"Me?"
Aras nodded.
"Yes."
Dark Umi spoke at the same time:
"Yes."
It was the first time they had said the same thing.
Then new lines began to appear in the book.
'The Last Keeper will make one of two choices.'
'She will seal the door forever...'
The page continued on its own.
'Or she will rewrite time.'
A deathly silence fell over the corridor.
Umi's throat went dry.
"What does rewriting time mean?"
This time dark Umi answered.
"It can give you back what you've lost."
"What's the price?"
The smile disappeared from dark Umi's face.
She stayed silent for a long time.
Finally she whispered:
"Everything."
Right then a terrible scream rose from under the mansion.
The ground shook.
And a massive black shadow began to rise from the basement.
This was much bigger than anything they had seen so far.
Aras drew his sword.
Dark Umi stepped back.
Because what they both feared had appeared.
The real enemy had finally awakened.
