Umi's ears were ringing.
The voice coming from the darkness really belonged to her.
Same tone.
Same way of speaking.
Same breathing.
"This... isn't possible..." she said.
Aras took a step back.
His face had gone completely white.
"It woke up."
The bright eyes inside the door slowly came closer.
Black smoke began to spread through the corridor.
Wherever the smoke touched, the walls aged, paint peeled off, and stones cracked.
It was as if time itself was rotting.
Little Umi cried out in fear:
"We have to close the door!"
Suddenly Umi felt a warmth at her neck.
She put her hand to her neck.
A silver necklace she had never seen before was there.
The necklace was the same as the key symbol.
Aras looked at her in shock.
"So it finally appeared..."
"What is this?"
"The Time Key."
The necklace began to glow blue light.
At that moment hundreds of images filled Umi's mind.
Past...
Future...
Memories she hadn't lived...
People she hadn't seen...
And finally only one image remained.
The white mansion.
But this time it had been completely turned to ruin.
The sky was red.
The fog had turned black.
And an adult Umi was standing in front of the mansion.
Her eyes had turned completely black.
And behind her a giant creature made of shadows was rising.
"No..." Umi whispered.
The image disappeared.
Aras looked away.
Umi was starting to understand everything.
"Dream Keeper..."
Aras silently nodded.
"She used to be you."
The corridor went silent as if frozen by ice.
"What?"
"In one future, you lost your power while trying to save the mansion."
Umi's knees trembled.
"And then?"
"You got trapped inside your dreams."
The dark voice from below was heard again.
This time it was much stronger.
"She's lying, Umi..."
A human shape began to form from the dark smoke.
The person slowly appearing...
Was Umi's adult self.
But her eyes were shining pitch black.
Adult Umi smiled.
"I'm not a monster."
She took one more step.
"I'm your future."
And she held out her hand.
"If you come with me you can learn all the secrets."
The corridor lights went out.
Aras shouted:
"Don't take her hand!"
But there was a strange sadness in the dark Umi's eyes.
And for the first time she didn't look frightening.
It was as if she was asking for help.
Umi looked at her, not knowing what to do.
Right then a huge bell sound rose from the depths of the mansion.
BOOOOM!
BOOOOM!
BOOOOM!
And the whole building began to shake.
Because the mansion's oldest secret had awakened
