Umi held the photograph tightly so she wouldn't drop it.
"Where did you find this photograph?" she asked her grandmother.
The old woman was silent for a moment.
"I found it in the old chest in the attic. But I hadn't heard the name of that mansion in years."
"Where is this place?"
Her grandmother looked out the window.
"Deep in the forest north of the village. No one has gone there in years."
A strange feeling overcame Umi. It was as if an invisible force was calling her to that mansion.
That night when she lay down in bed, she put the photograph on her nightstand.
The moment she fell asleep, a new dream began.
This time she was inside the mansion.
She was walking down a long corridor. Old paintings hung on the walls. At the end of the corridor there was a wooden door.
A silver key symbol was on the door.
She tried to open the door but it was locked.
Just as she was about to turn back, she heard a voice behind her.
"You are late..."
Umi quickly turned around.
The man dressed in black was standing a few meters away.
His face was still in the shadows.
"Who are you?" Umi asked.
The man did not answer.
He slowly raised his hand and pointed to the door at the end of the corridor.
Then he dissolved like fog and disappeared.
Umi woke up in fear.
The clock showed 03:17.
Right then a notification came to her phone.
There was a single message from an unknown number:
"Find the key that will open the door."
Umi's blood froze.
Because this sentence was exactly the same as the voice she heard in her dream.
