The Shadow of Comparison
After talking with Lily, Emma wanted to change, but jealousy did not disappear overnight. The next week, the school announced a science competition. Lily was chosen to represent the class because of her excellent ideas.
When everyone applauded Lily, Emma forced a smile. Inside, she felt the same old pain returning. She asked herself, "Why is it always her? Why not me?"
That evening, Emma looked at herself in the mirror. She realized she had spent more time watching other people's success than improving her own skills. Instead of studying or practicing, she had been comparing herself every single day.
The next morning, Emma made a decision. She congratulated Lily sincerely and started preparing for the school's art contest. It wasn't easy to ignore the jealous thoughts, but every small step made her stronger.
For the first time in a long while, Emma wasn't trying to be someone else. She was trying to become the best version of herself.
